Gexa Saver 12 is also known as a bill credit plan. With bill credit plans, you get a discount on your electricity bill when you hit a certain usage threshold.

These discounts can stack up to actual savings only if you know you will hit the minimum usage required to get the monthly discount.

With Saver 12, Gexa Energy offers a $95 discount on your electricity bill when you use at least 1000 kWh during a billing cycle.

If you know that you always hit that usage each month, you will get the bill credit throughout the year.

How does Gexa Saver 12 work?

Gexa Saver 12 is a bill credit plan, meaning you get a $95 discount on your electricity each month that you use at least 1000 kWh.

It was created to give you discounts on your monthly electricity bill and help keep your electricity bills in control throughout the year.

Gexa Energy also offers a 60-day Happiness Guarantee for new customers.

Bill credit discount

Each month you hit 1000 kWh usage, Gexa Energy discounts your electricity bill by $95.

Important: Gexa Energy includes the $95 bill credit discount in the advertised rate. The rate you pay for electricity will only be the advertised rate if you use precisely 1000 kWh.

Regardless of the bill credit discount, you will still be charged Transmission and Distribution (TDU) base and energy charges.

How much does Gexa Saver 12 cost?

At the time of writing, Gexa Energy listed Saver 12 at 14.1 cents per kWh at 1000 kWh monthly usage in the Oncor service area, which includes the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

Important: Gexa Energy includes the bill credit discount in the advertised price for the Oncor area. You will only get the advertised rate if you use approximately 1000 kWh monthly.

No one uses exactly 1000 kWh every month, and your usage will vary, affecting the rate you pay.

If you are considering signing up for Gexa Saver 12, make sure you shop with your home’s actual usage to see if you will benefit from the bill credit discount.

Average Texan

Are you similar to the average Texan? According to eia.gov, the average Texan pays 13.15 cents per kWh for electricity.

With average usage of 1,132 kWh per month, the average Texas electricity bill would be right around $148.90 each month.

With the weather in Texas swinging each season, your usage and electricity bill can change as quickly as the weather.

Remember that these average numbers are taken from statewide data and that your usage could be drastically different based on the size and age of your home, your appliances, and your electricity usage habits.

Saver 12

Compared to the Texas average from last year, Gexa Saver 12 is more expensive at 14.1 cents per kWh at 1000 kWh usage.

At 1,132 kWh usage, you would be looking at an electricity bill for $172.07 on the Saver 12 plan.

That’s 15.56% more expensive than the average Texan paid on electricity bills last year.

Your electricity rate will vary any month you use more or less than 1000 kWh. That means that your bill could be significantly more expensive than the Texas average during months you aren’t hitting the usage threshold for the bill credit.

Other fees

You’ll find a TDU delivery charge alongside your energy charge on your bill.

The TDU charge depends on which company services the area that you live in. The TDU charge for the Oncor area, covering the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area, is currently 4.4 cents per kWh. Oncor also collects a base charge of $3.42 each month.

Gexa Saver 12 also has an early termination fee of $150.

If you regularly need to pay your bills late or require additional copies of your bill, you might consider a different electricity plan to avoid these fees.

Gexa Saver 12 alternatives

Are bill credit plans worth it?

You might wonder if there is any catch with Gexa Saver 12.

While Gexa Energy does give you the $95 bill credit whenever you use at least 1000 kWh, you’ll only get the advertised rate if you use EXACTLY 1000 kWh during the month.

Any time you use more or less than 1000 kWh, you’ll pay a different rate, and your usage can vary drastically throughout the year.

One month you could get a discount and the following month you could end up with an electricity bill almost double what you expect.

Bill credit plans can save you serious money throughout the year, but you need to shop with your home’s actual usage to ensure you will get the discount.

If you aren’t confident that you have a firm handle on your electricity usage, we recommend picking a 12-month fixed-rate contract to avoid the headache of unexpectedly high bills.

Frontier Saver Plus 12 is a bill credit plan, meaning you get a $125 discount on your electricity each month that you hit 1000 kWh usage.

It was created to give you discounts on your monthly electricity bill and help keep your electricity bills in control throughout the year.

Frontier Utilities also offers a 60-day satisfaction guarantee for this plan.

Bill credit discount

Each month you hit 1000 kWh usage, Frontier Utilities discounts your electricity bill by $125.

Important: Frontier Utilities includes the $125 bill credit discount in the advertised rate at 1000 kWh. The rate you pay for electricity will only be the advertised rate if you use precisely 1000 kWh.

Regardless of the bill credit discount, you will still be charged Transmission and Distribution (TDU) base and energy charges.

How much does Frontier Saver Plus 12 cost?

At the time of writing, Frontier Utilities listed Saver Plus 12 at 12.9 cents per kWh at 1000 kWh monthly usage in the Oncor service area, which includes the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

Important: Frontier Utilities includes the $125 bill credit discount in the advertised 12.9 cents per kWh price for the Oncor area. You will only get the advertised rate if you use EXACTLY 1000 kWh each month.

No one uses exactly 1000 kWh every month, and your usage will vary, affecting the rate you pay.

If you are considering signing up for Frontier Saver Plus 12, make sure you shop with your home’s actual usage to see if you will benefit from the bill credit discount.

Saver Plus 12

Compared to the Texas average from last year, Frontier Saver Plus 12 comes in at a slightly lower 12.9 cents per kWh at 1000 kWh usage.

At 1,132 kWh usage, you would be looking at an electricity bill for $162.33 on the Saver Plus 12 plan.

That’s only 9.01% more expensive than the average Texan paid on electricity bills last year.

Your electricity rate will vary any month you use more or less than 1000 kWh. That means your bill could be significantly more expensive than the Texas average during months you aren’t near 1000 kWh usage.

Frontier Saver Plus 12 also has an early termination fee of $150.

Before signing up, make sure you shop with your home’s unique usage profile to avoid high bills and the need to end your contract early.

Digging into the Terms of Service, Frontier Utilities lists additional fees for late payments, assisted payments, disconnect notices, disconnect recoveries, reconnect recoveries, customer care calls, collection calls, and additional copies of documents.

If you regularly need to pay your bills late or require assistance with payments, you might consider a different electricity plan to avoid these fees.

Frontier Saver Plus 12 alternatives

Are bill credit plans worth it?

You might wonder if there is any catch with Frontier Saver Plus 12.

While Frontier Utilities does give you the $125 bill credit whenever you hit 1000 kWh of usage, you’ll only get the advertised rate if you use EXACTLY 1000 kWh during the month.

If you aren’t confident that you have a strong handle on your electricity usage, we recommend picking a 12-month fixed-rate contract to avoid the headache of unexpectedly high bills.

Are you tired of complicated energy plans that leave you scratching your head? Wondering if Real Simple Energy is worth the money?

In this review, we’ll dive deep into Real Simple Energy and let you know if you should pay for convenience.

Get ready to discover insights that will empower you to make informed decisions about your energy needs.

TL;DR

  • Real Simple Energy Subscription: Pay $9 a month or $108 per year for personalized electricity plans.
  • Fixed-Bill Option: Budget the same amount for electricity every month.
  • ComparePower’s Advantage: Save $108 in convenience fees by choosing the right plan with ComparePower.

Why Real Simple Energy?

Navigating the energy market can be a daunting task.

With fluctuating rates, hidden fees, and a plethora of options, finding the right plan can feel overwhelming.

Real Simple Energy claims its streamlined approach is better than energy shopping.

Pros

  • Real Simple Energy can find an energy plan for your home for a fee.
  • Real Simple Energy can pay your electricity bill if you forget to pay it on time and don’t like using autopay.
  • You can cancel your Real Simple Energy subscription anytime during your contract.

Cons

  • You pay $108 a year for something you can do independently.
  • You must sign over power of attorney for your energy contracts, meaning Real Simple Energy can sign electricity contracts in your name and make changes to your account at their discretion.
  • They can change the terms of service at any time, though this is standard with most energy providers in Texas.

How Does Real Simple Energy Work?

Using your electricity usage, Real Simple Energy looks for energy plans for your home. You get a few plan options, along with estimated savings.

But Real Simple Energy is not guaranteed to lower your electricity bills.

It offers the usual fixed rates you’ll find on most sites, but the fixed-bill option sets it apart from other concierge-like shopping services.

Fixed-bill plans give you a set monthly electricity bill throughout your contract and you’ll get cash back if you use less electricity than expected.

Additionally, Real Simple Energy will purchase renewable energy credits (RECs), so your home’s electricity is offset by green energy.

Using Real Simple Energy

As part of the registration process, you’ll be asked a few simple questions about your home and electricity usage.

For information on your electricity usage, Real Simple Energy offers two options. The first option is to enter your summer and winter usage and bill amounts.

Second, you can list the size and number of thermostats in your home and how many people live there.

Real Simple Energy then calculates how much electricity you’ll use each month based on your answers.

Once you start, Real Simple Energy will pay your electric bill and then charge you afterward. They will also attempt to find you a new plan at the end of your contract.

If you wish to cancel your Real Simple Energy subscription, you can do so anytime.

Real Simple Energy Plans

You can choose from a 12-month fixed-bill or a six to 12-month fixed-rate contract.

Real Simple Energy requires that you sign a limited power of attorney regardless of which option you choose.

By doing so, they can manage your electricity account throughout your contract term.
