Electricity Price Trends in Rising Star
Electricity in Rising Star, Texas, has been deregulated. As a resident, you have a choice when it comes to picking a retail electricity provider (your electricity provider), which gives you insight and control over your energy bills.
Deregulation of electricity in Texas de-monopolized the electricity market for the majority of Texas, the city of Rising Star included, which introduced lots of competition.
As a result, many fantastic power companies compete for your business in Rising Star by offering low-rates, making it a great time to shop, switch, and save money on your power statement.
As many as 65+ retail electricity providers compete for your business in Rising Star and there are hundreds of plans to choose from.

How to find the best energy plan in Rising Star
#1 rule: Know Your Usage!
Knowing how much electricity you will consume each month is the ideal way to shop for energy in Rising Star. Why is this important?
The rate you see electricity companies advertising is for an exact monthly usage (typically 1000 kWh).
Every plan uses a different calculation for how your monthly statement is computed, and your monthly bill will vary depending on how much power you consume in each month.
Unless you match the exact advertised usage each month, you will end up paying an effective “price per kWh” different than what you saw when you enrolled.
Fortunately, there’s a better way to choose your power plan.
Calculating your total monthly bill based on expected monthly usage, then comparing options by total monthly bill, is the best way to shop for the best rate for your household.
Better yet, if you have an entire year of usage history for your household, you can compare plans by total annual cost. This annualized method takes into account the changes in usage between summer and winter months and is the absolute best way to determine the perfect energy rate plan for your home.
ComparePower does all this math for you in an instant. What takes hours inside a spreadsheet is now done in a few moments.
We put the power in your hands, taking what would amount to hours of investigation, spreadsheets, and calculations across hundreds of plans and navigate you step-by-step to the electricity rate plan that’s best for your household’s usage.
We clarify the fine print, disclosing the various charges and fees, so you’ll know precisely where your money is going and what to anticipate on your bill.
We then assist you in ordering your plan with your selected energy company without leaving our service.
The take away here is you must know your expected or historical usage before choosing the right energy plan for your home.
If you don’t know your usage, estimate
If you are unable to acquire 12-months of historical usage, or you’re the owner of a brand new home, the next best thing is to estimate how much energy you will use in an average month.
Although knowing the previous 12-months of usage is optimum, it is far better to estimate the average energy consumption than to select the first electricity provider that you see advertised. After all, you have no idea how much energy you will use at that point.
Use ComparePower to shop for the best electricity plan for your specific usage.
Moving to Rising Star: Setting up Electricity
If this is your first time setting up electricity service in Rising Star, to get the best rate you need to get the previous 12-months of energy usage for your new home.
Ask the previous home-owner to provide you with their past 12-months of usage.
This information is readily found in recent billing statements.
It may take some effort to acquire usage for the past 12-months, but the time (and savings) will be well worth it.
Once you have historical usage, ComparePower will do the math instantly to help you find the best plan for your home’s usage pattern.
Note: If you are unable to obtain historical usage information, a second option would be to estimate your future usage via utilizing our “Help Me Choose” tool. By simply entering your zip code the tool will be able to assess your home’s projected electricity consumption.
Sign-up for a plan instantly through ComparePower. We will remind you when its time to come back to switch and save at the end of the plan length you decide on.
Switching electricity companies in Rising Star
Switching is good. Market conditions are always in flux, so it is important to shop for a lower rate every year when your contract is close to expiring.
Your existing energy provider will normally raise your energy rate once your term expires. If you do not take action, you’ll be left on a month-to-month rate that is significantly higher than the plan you signed up.
Before renewing your contract make sure to shop the rates of competing energy companies.
Switching can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars each year on your energy bill.
Switching is easy:
-
-
- You don’t have to call your current provider to cancel (no “break-up call”)
- No one comes to your home
- There is no disruption in your electricity supply
- It takes just minutes
-
When you make the switch, your new energy company will take care of everything for you including canceling service with your previous company.
Your lights stay on when you switch. Electricity in Rising Star is all delivered by the Oncor Transmission and Distribution Utility.
The wires and poles that deliver electricity to your home do not change when you switch energy companies. Therefore the reliability of your service is not affected.
You can pick any date up to 14 days early of your current contract’s end date without an “early cancellation” penalty. Texas law protects you here.
If you’re still under contract, find out how many months remain on your contract. You can set a future start date with most companies up to 6o days in advance.
The amount saved each month by switching to a different electricity company may outweigh the one-time fee to get out of your contract early.
For help with this, you can send us your latest energy bill via email, and one of our professional team members will contact you shortly to discuss your best options.
If you’re ready to switch and would like to know how to find the best plan remember that knowing your usage is the best way to find the truly lowest price.
You will want to find your historical usage for the last 12 months to determine the best plan with the lowest rate for your household.
