Electricity Price Trends in Presidio
Electricity in Presidio, Texas, is deregulated. As an energy customer, you have a choice when it comes to picking a retail electricity provider (your electricity provider), which gives you control and power over your energy bill.
Deregulation of energy in Texas de-monopolized the electricity market for the majority of Texas, the city of Presidio included, which introduced lots of competition.
As a result, many excellent power companies compete for your business in Presidio by offering low-prices, making it a great time to compare, switch, and save money on your electricity bill.

How to find the best energy plan in Presidio
#1 rule: Determine what your usage is!
Determining the amount of electricity you will use each month is the ideal way to find a deal on energy in Presidio. Why is this so vital?
The rate you see electricity companies advertising is for an exact monthly usage (usually 1000 kWh).
Every plan uses a different equation for how your monthly bill is determined, and your monthly bill will change according to how much power you use in a month.
Unless you match the exact advertised usage each month, you will end up paying an effective “price per kWh” different than the one you saw advertised when you signed up.
Thankfully, there’s a better way to choose your power rate.
Calculating your total monthly bill based on estimated monthly usage, then comparing rates by total monthly cost, is the best way to shop for the lowest rate for your household.
Even better, if you have an entire year of usage history for your household, you can compare plans by total annual cost. This annualized method takes into account the changes in usage between summer and winter months and is the ideal way to determine the right energy rate plan for your home.
ComparePower does all this math for you in an instant. What could take you hours on a spreadsheet is now done in a few seconds.
We put you in the driver’s seat, taking what would amount to hours of investigation, spreadsheets, and calculations across hundreds of plans and assist you step-by-step to the electricity plan that’s best for your home’s usage.
We clarify the fine print, disclosing the various charges and fees, so you’ll know exactly where your money is going and what to anticipate on your bill.
We then assist you in signing-up with your chosen power provider without ever having to leave our website.
The bottom line is you must know your expected or historical usage before selecting the right energy plan for your home.
If you don’t know your usage, estimate
If you recently purchased a home or business, or you cannot obtain 12-months of usage history, you can always estimate the average amount of energy that you will use in any given month.
While not as optimal as having all previous 12-months of usage, estimating your average usage is better than blindly picking the first plan you see advertised by an electricity company at a specific usage that isn’t what you’ll consume.
Use ComparePower to shop for the best electricity plan for your specific usage.
Moving to Presidio: Setting up Electricity
If this is your first time setting up electricity service in Presidio, to get the best rate you need to get the previous 12-months of energy usage for your new home.
Ask the previous home-owner to provide you with their past 12-months of usage.
This information is readily found in recent billing statements.
It may take some effort to acquire usage for the past 12-months, but the time (and savings) will be well worth it.
Once you have historical usage, ComparePower will do the math instantly to help you find the best plan for your home’s usage pattern.
Note: If you can’t obtain usage history, you can estimate your monthly usage instead. Utilize our “Help Me Choose” tool when you enter your zip code below and we’ll help you evaluate your home’s usage.
Sign-up for a plan instantly through ComparePower. We will remind you when its time to return to switch and save at the end of the plan length you decide on.
Switching electricity companies in Presidio
Switching is good. Market conditions are always in flux, so it is important to shop for a lower price every year when your contract is about to expire.
Your existing electricity provider will typically raise your electricity rate once your term expires. If you fail to take action, you’ll be left on a month-to-month rate that is significantly more than the plan you signed up.
Before renewing your contract make sure to shop the rates of competing electricity companies.
Switching can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars each year on your electricity bill.
Switching is easy:
-
-
- You don’t have to contact your current provider to cancel (no “break-up call”)
- No one comes to your home
- There is no disruption in your power supply
- It takes just minutes
-
When you make the switch, your new energy company will take care of everything for you including canceling service with your previous company.
There is no loss of power when you switch. Electricity in Presidio is all delivered by the Oncor Transmission and Distribution Utility.
The wires and poles that deliver power to your home do not change when you switch electricity companies. Therefore the reliability of your service is not affected.
You can pick any date up to 14 days early of your current contract’s end date without an “early cancellation” fee. That’s Texas Law.
If you’re still under contract, find out how many months remain on your contract. You can set a future start date with most providers up to 6o days in advance.
The amount saved each month by switching to a different electricity company may outweigh the one-time fee to get out of your contract early.
If you are unsure email us your latest energy bill and one of our team members will get back to you promptly with your best options.
If you’re ready to switch and would like to know how to find the best plan remember that understanding your usage is the best way to find the truly cheapest price.
You will want to find your past usage for the last 12 months to determine the best plan with the lowest rate for your household.
