Electricity Price Trends in Havana
Electricity in Havana, Texas, has been deregulated. As a resident, you have a choice when it comes to selecting a retail electricity provider (your energy provider), which gives you insight and command over your energy bills.
Deregulation of energy in the state de-monopolized the electricity market for the majority of the state, the city of Havana included, which introduced massive competition.
As a result, many fantastic energy companies compete for your business in Havana by offering low-prices, making it a great time to shop, switch, and save money on your power bill.
As many as 65+ providers compete for your account in Havana and there are hundreds of plans to select from.

How to find the best energy plan in Havana
#1 rule: Determine what your usage is!
Discovering the amount of energy you will consume month-to-month is the ideal way to find a deal on energy in Havana. Why is this so vital?
The “price per kWh” you see electricity companies advertising is for an exact monthly usage (usually 2000 kWh).
Every plan uses a different calculation for how your monthly bill is determined, and your monthly bill will change according to how much electricity you consume in the month.
Unless you match the exact advertised usage each month, you will end up paying an effective “price per kWh” different than the one you saw advertised when you enrolled.
Thankfully, there’s a better way to choose your power rate.
Calculating your total monthly bill based on estimated monthly usage, then comparing options by total monthly cost, is the best way to shop for the best rate for your household.
Better yet, if you have 12 months of usage history for your household, you can compare plans by total annual cost. This annualized method takes into account the changes in usage between summer and winter months and is the absolute best way to determine the perfect electricity plan for your home.
ComparePower does all the complicated math for you instantly. What takes hours inside a spreadsheet is now solved in just moments.
We put you in the driver’s seat, taking what would amount to hours of research, spreadsheets, and calculations across hundreds of plans and assist you step-by-step to the energy plan that’s best for your home’s consumption.
We clarify the details, disclosing all fees and charges, so you’ll know precisely where your money is going and what to anticipate on your bill.
We then assist you in ordering your plan with your selected power provider without ever having to leave our website.
The take away here is you must understand your expected or historical usage before selecting the best electricity plan for your home.
If you don’t know your usage, estimate
If you are unable to acquire 12-months of historical usage, or you’re the owner of a brand new home, the next best thing is to estimate how much energy you will use in an average month.
Although knowing the previous 12-months of usage is optimum, it is far better to estimate the average energy consumption than to select the first electricity provider that you see advertised. After all, you have no idea how much energy you will use at that point.
Use ComparePower to shop for the best energy plan for your specific usage.
Moving to Havana: Setting up Electricity
If this is your first time setting up electricity service in Havana, to get the best rate you need to get the previous 12-months of energy usage for your new home.
Ask the previous home-owner to provide you with their past 12-months of usage.
This information is readily found in recent billing statements.
It may take some effort to acquire usage for the past 12-months, but the time (and savings) will be well worth it.
Once you have historical usage, ComparePower will do the math instantly to help you find the best plan for your home’s usage pattern.
Note: If you can’t obtain usage history, you can estimate your monthly usage instead. Utilize our “Help Me Choose” tool when you enter your zip code below and we’ll help you evaluate your home’s usage.
By signing up for a plan through ComparePower you will receive automated reminders when it’s time to renew your existing plan or to possibly switch plans.
Switching electricity companies in Havana
Switching is good. Market conditions are always changing, so it is important to shop for a lower price each year when your contract is about to expire.
Your existing electricity company will normally raise your electricity rate once your term expires. If you fail to take action, you’ll be left on a month-to-month rate that is significantly higher than the plan you signed up.
Before renewing your contract make sure to shop the rates of competing energy companies.
Switching can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars each year on your electricity bill.
Switching is easy:
-
-
- You don’t have to call your current provider to cancel (no “break-up call”)
- No one comes to your home
- There is no disruption in your electricity supply
- It takes just minutes
-
When you make the switch, your new energy company will take care of everything for you including canceling service with your previous company.
Your lights stay on when you switch. Electricity in Havana is all delivered by the Oncor Transmission and Distribution Utility.
The wires and poles that deliver power to your home do not change when you switch electricity providers. Therefore the reliability of your service is not affected.
You can pick any date up to 14 days early of your current contract’s end date without an “early cancellation” penalty. That’s Texas Law.
If you’re still under contract, find out how many months remain on your contract. You can set a future start date with most providers up to 6o days in advance.
And even if you’re well inside your contract, savings achieved on your monthly bill by switching companies may outweigh the fee to break your existing contract.
If you are unsure email us your latest energy bill and one of our team members will respond to you promptly with your best options.
If you’re ready to switch and would like to know how to find the best plan remember that knowing your usage is the best way to find the truly cheapest price.
You will want to gather your past usage for the past 12 months to determine the best plan with the lowest rate for your household.
