How to find the best energy plan in Gallatin
#1 rule: Determine what your usage is!
Knowing the amount of electricity you will consume month-to-month is the ideal way to find a deal on energy in Gallatin. Why does this matter?
The rate you see electricity companies advertising is for an exact monthly usage (typically 1000 kWh).
Every plan uses a different calculation for how your monthly statement is calculated, and your monthly bill will change according to how much energy you consume in each month.
Unless you use exactly the advertised amount each month, you will end up paying an effective “price per kWh” different than what you observed when you signed up.
Fortunately, there’s a better way to select your electricity rate.
Calculating your expected monthly bill based on estimated monthly usage, then comparing rates by total monthly cost, is the best way to shop for the lowest rate for your home.
Better still, if you have an entire year of usage history for your home, you can compare plans by total annual cost. This annualized method takes into account the changes in usage between summer and winter months and is the absolute best way to discover the right electricity plan for your home.
ComparePower does all the complicated math for you instantly. What could take you hours inside a spreadsheet is now done in just moments.
We put the power in your hands, taking what would amount to hours of investigation, spreadsheets, and computations across hundreds of offers and navigate you step-by-step to the energy plan that’s best for your home’s usage.
We clarify the fine print, disclosing the various charges and fees, so you’ll know precisely where your money is going and what to expect on your bill.
We then assist you in ordering your plan with your chosen energy company without ever having to leave our website.
The bottom line is you must determine your expected or historical usage before choosing the best electricity plan for your home.
If you don’t know your usage, estimate
If you recently purchased a home or business, or you cannot obtain 12-months of usage history, you can always estimate the average amount of energy that you will use in any given month.
While not as optimal as having all previous 12-months of usage, estimating your average usage is better than blindly choosing the first plan you see advertised by an electricity provider at a specific usage that isn’t what you’ll consume.
Use ComparePower to find the best electricity plan for your specific usage.
Moving to Gallatin: Setting up Electricity
If this is your first time setting up electricity service in Gallatin, to get the best rate you need to get the previous 12-months of energy usage for your new home.
Ask the previous home-owner to provide you with their past 12-months of usage.
This information is readily found in recent billing statements.
It may take some effort to acquire usage for the past 12-months, but the time (and savings) will be well worth it.
Once you have historical usage, ComparePower will do the math instantly to help you find the best plan for your home’s usage pattern.
Note: If you are unable to obtain historical usage information, a second option would be to estimate your future usage via utilizing our “Help Me Choose” tool. By simply entering your zip code the tool will be able to assess your home’s projected electricity consumption.
By signing up for a plan through ComparePower you will receive automated reminders when it’s time to renew your existing plan or to possibly switch plans.
Switching electricity companies in Gallatin
Switching is good. Market conditions are always in flux, so it is essential to shop for a lower price each year when your contract is close to expiring.
Your existing energy company will typically raise your electricity rate once your contract expires. If you fail to take action, you’ll be left on a month-to-month rate that is significantly more than the plan you signed up.
Before renewing your contract make sure to shop the rates of competing electricity companies.
Switching can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars each year on your electricity bill.
Switching is easy:
-
-
- You don’t have to call your current provider to cancel (no “break-up call”)
- No one comes to your home
- There is no disruption in your electricity supply
- It takes just minutes
-
When you make the switch, your new electricity company will handle everything for you including terminating service with your previous provider.
Your lights stay on when you switch. Electricity in Gallatin is all delivered by the Oncor Transmission and Distribution Utility.
The wires and poles that deliver power to your home do not change when you switch electricity providers. Therefore the reliability of your service is not affected.
You can choose any date up to 14 days early of your current contract’s end date without an “early cancellation” fee. That’s Texas Law.
If you’re still under contract, check how many months remain on your contract. You can set a future start date with most providers up to 6o days in advance.
The amount saved each month by switching to a different electricity company may outweigh the one-time fee to get out of your contract early.
For help with this, you can send us your latest energy bill via email, and one of our professional team members will contact you shortly to discuss your best options.
If you’re ready to switch and would like to know how to find the best plan remember that understanding your usage is the best way to find the truly best rate.
You will want to find your past usage for the last 12 months to determine the best plan with the lowest rate for your household.
