Electricity Price Trends in Ferris
Electricity in Ferris, Texas, is deregulated. As a consumer of energy, you have a choice when it comes to picking a retail electricity provider (your energy company), which gives you control and power over your energy bill.
Deregulation of energy in Texas de-monopolized the energy market for the majority of the state, the city of Ferris included, which introduced lots of competition.
As a result, many excellent power companies compete for your business in Ferris by offering low-prices, making it a great time to compare, switch, and save costs on your electricity bill.
As many as 100+ energy companies compete for your business in Ferris and there are hundreds of plans to sort through.

How to find the best energy plan in Ferris
#1 rule: Know Your Usage!
Determining the amount of electricity you will use in a month is the best way to find a deal on energy in Ferris. Why does this matter?
The “price per kWh” you see power companies advertising is for an exact monthly usage (typically 2000 kWh).
Every plan uses a different calculation for how your monthly bill is determined, and your monthly bill will change according to how much electricity you consume in a month.
Unless you match the exact advertised usage each month, you will end up paying an effective “price per kWh” different than the one you saw advertised when you ordered.
Fortunately, there’s a better way to shop for electricity provider.
Calculating your total monthly bill based on estimated monthly usage, then comparing rates by total monthly bill, is the best way to shop for the lowest rate for you.
Better yet, if you have 12 months of usage history for your household, you can compare plans by total annual cost. This annualized method takes into account the changes in usage between summer and winter months and is the ideal way to determine the perfect electricity rate plan for your home.
ComparePower does all the complicated math for you instantly. What takes hours inside a spreadsheet is now done in a few moments.
We put you in the driver’s seat, taking what would amount to hours of investigation, spreadsheets, and calculations across hundreds of plans and assist you step-by-step to the energy plan that’s best for your home’s usage.
We clarify the fine print, disclosing the various charges and fees, so you’ll know exactly where your money is going and what to expect on your bill.
We then help you in signing-up with your selected electricity provider without ever having to leave our website.
The bottom line is you should determine your expected or historical usage before choosing the right energy plan for your home.
If you don’t know your usage, estimate
If you recently purchased a home or business, or you cannot obtain 12-months of usage history, you can always estimate the average amount of energy that you will use in any given month.
While not as optimal as having all previous 12-months of usage, estimating your average usage is better than blindly picking the first plan you see advertised by an energy provider at a specific usage that isn’t what you’ll consume.
Use ComparePower to shop for the best electricity plan for your specific usage.

Switching electricity companies in Ferris
Switching is good. Market conditions are always in flux, so it is important to shop for a lower rate each year when your contract is about to expire.
Your existing energy company will typically raise your electricity rate once your term expires. If you do not take action, you’ll be left on a month-to-month rate that is significantly more than the plan you signed up.
Before renewing your contract make sure to shop the rates of competing electricity providers.
Switching can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars each year on your energy bill.
Switching is easy:
- You don’t have to contact your current company to cancel (no “break-up call”)
- No one comes to your home
- There is no disruption in your power supply
- It takes just minutes
When you decide to switch, your new energy provider will handle everything for you including canceling service with your previous company.
There is no loss of power when you switch. Electricity in Ferris is all delivered by the Oncor Transmission and Distribution Utility.
The wires and poles that deliver electricity to your home do not change when you switch electricity providers. Therefore the reliability of your service is not affected.
You can choose any date within 14 days of your contract expiration date without an “early termination” fee. That’s Texas Law.
If you’re still under contract, check how many months remain on your contract. You can set a future start date with most providers up to 6o days in advance.
The amount saved each month by switching to a different electricity company may outweigh the one-time fee to get out of your contract early.
If you are unsure email us your latest energy bill and one of our team members will get back to you promptly with your best options.
If you’re ready to switch and would like to know how to find the best plan remember that understanding your usage is the best way to find the truly lowest rate.
Keep in mind that when you get ready to switch, and you want to know the most efficient way to find the right plan at the best rate, it is essential that you first understand your usage. To accomplish that, you will need to collect the usage history for the past 12 months.

Note: For any of the situations above, you must first complete your order an energy plan on ComparePower before you can obtain a waiver for your deposit.
After you’ve placed your order, you will receive an email with instructions as well as contact information for your new energy company.
Important: You must send your waiver information by email, phone, fax or mail to your new energy company (not to ComparePower).
As soon as your energy company receives your documentation, they will let you know that they’ve sent a request for your energy service to begin.
Remember, your energy company will not start your electric service until you satisfy any deposit requirement (you pay or receive a waiver).
