With Nights Free, Tara Energy offers free electricity each night. From 9 pm through 7 am, you won’t be charged by Tara Energy for electricity.
You can use as much electricity as you want each night without worrying about a high electric bill at the end of the month.

Tara Energy Nights Free is a time-of-use plan, meaning you get discount electricity during certain times throughout the year.
Nights Free was created to give you free electricity each night and help you plan your electricity usage during the week.
You can also upgrade your plan to 100% renewable energy.
Night discount
From 9 pm through 7 am, Tara Energy discounts your electricity.
Important: Tara Energy includes the discount and the TDU charges in the advertised rate for this plan.
You must shift at least 35% of your usage to the free period to get the advertised rate.
How much does Tara Energy Nights Free cost?
At the time of writing, Tara Energy listed Nights Free at 22.5 cents per kWh at 1000 kWh monthly usage in the Oncor service area, which includes the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
Important: Tara Energy includes the discounts in the advertised 22.5 cents per kWh price for the Oncor area. You will NOT see an additional discount on your electricity usage.

Other fees
Alongside your energy charge, you’ll find a Base charge on your bill.
Tara Energy collects a base charge of $4.95 regardless of your monthly electricity.
The TDU charge depends on which company services the area you live in, and Tara Energy includes TDU charges in the energy charge listed on your Electricity Facts Label (EFL).
The TDU charge for the Oncor area, covering the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area, is currently 3.89 cents per kWh. Oncor also collects a base charge of $3.42 each month.
As with most Tara Energy plans, Nights Free allows you to upgrade to 100% renewable energy.
For $9.99 extra each month, Tara Energy will buy renewable energy credits (RECs) to offset the electricity you use.
Tara Energy Nights Free also has an early termination fee of $175 if you end the plan before your contract expires.
